  6. Lipid Profile: Requiring 8 to 12 hours of fasting, this test informs on the risk of heart disease. The test measures good cholesterol, bad cholesterol and fat content in blood
  7. Renal Panel: This test informs on the functioning and well being of the kidneys.
  8. TSH: Thyroid Stimulating Hormone: A thyroid test informs on why a person is having sudden swings in his or her mood. TSH also informs about abnormal rates of ups and downs in heart beats.
  9. Cancer markers: Some common cancer markers are:
  • AFP: Alpha-FetoProtein test is done for liver cancer

  7. Sprinkle water in your premises on road to settle down the pollutants
  8. Increase intake of anti-oxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E and beta carotene, this will help in increasing immunity
  9. Eat jaggery/gud to flush out pollutants from lungs; simple replace your processes sugar with jaggery in all your preparation or consume jaggery as it is.

Know About Dengue

Dengue is a kind of fever disease caused by viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes to humans. Dengue fever usually causes high fever, skin rashes, headaches and often severe joint and muscle pains. The disease is also known as “break bone fever”. The dengue virus does not spread directly from person to person.

 

Symptoms

Dengue Symptoms usually begin about four to seven days after the initial infection. Symptoms generally last for about 10 days and can include:
  1. Mild bruising on the skin
  2. Severe headache
  3. Mild to severe vomiting
  4. Severe joint and muscle pains
  5. Skin rashes
  6. Mild to severe Nausea
  7. Sudden high fever
  8. Mild bleeding from the nose or gums

Dengue Prevention

Recommended Pathology Test

  1. Complete blood count (CBC)—This is advised to check for low platelet count at the later stages of the illness and to detect the decrease in hemoglobin, percentage of red blood cells in blood and red blood cell (RBC) count which may indicate anemia that would occur with blood loss associated with severe dengue fever.
  1. NS1-This test helps in rapid detection of infection on the very first day of fever before antibodies (IgM and IgG) appears after 4-5 days later. NS1 antigen has been found circulating in the sample of infected patients from the first day and up to 9 days after onset of fever. This is a very simple blood test conducted at laboratory for Dengue
  1. Antibody Test – After 4-5 days, body’s immune system produces antibodies like IgM and IgG, so if undergoing dengue test after 5 days Dengue NS1 can be combined with these antibodies.  IgM and IgG are most effective when conductive at least 4 days after the onset of the fever.

Malaria
